An escape game or escape room is a group based activity in which you and your team must complete puzzles and challenges in order to “escape” within a 60 minute time limit (note: our experiences require a different objective to simply ‘escaping’…) . You’ll find a detailed explanation of an escape room and how our games work by clicking on the Escape Rooms tab.
An immersive experience does exactly what it says on the tin. You’ll be interacting with characters and taking part in an interactive story that unfolds as you play our games. If you’d like to learn more about the Bewilder Box world, click on the story tab.
The games are for teams of 2-7 people, although larger groups can use the bars as a waiting area downstairs and take it in turns to see who scores the best time!
Sorry but our fire regulations mean that we can’t have more than 7 people in at any one time, so you will have to book for multiple slots.
Re-booking an empty slot at short notice is tough! For this reason, like a theater or concert ticket we cannot offer refunds for cancelled bookings, however we do allow you to re-book for a different date providing you give us at least 48 hours notice. Please note: Notifications of less than 48 hours notice or no shows are non-refundable.
Only your brains. Everything else you need will be in the room.
Nope, none of our puzzles involve physical challenges.
Not really, although we recommend the game for players aged 13 and up. Please note that due to venue licencing, minors (under 18’s) cannot be present in both pubs after 8pm. This means the late slot (7:15 – 8:45:pm) cannot be booked for parties that include minors.
All groups below the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Unfortunately not – in the Bewilder Box Initiative story, Dr Wilder mysteriously vanishes back in the 1980’s never to be seen again. His brilliant legacy lives on through recorded format only, whilst in Judgement D.A.V.E., Dr Cameron is long passed…
The Hobgoblin is open Sun-Thu 12:00am-Midnight and Fri-Sat 12:00am-2am. Bewilder Box operates 5 slots per day during this time. These slots are currently scheduled as follows:
Due to the nature of the game we wouldn’t recommend it.
We have had people with claustrophobia come to do our rooms and had no problems. You are not locked in and can leave at any time so we believe it won’t be an issue.
Accessibilty varies across our two sites – see our Accessibility Statement here for full details.
We use a small amount of strobe lighting which can easily be switched out with no effect on the experience, so no issue.
Unfortunately the first floor of both venues is not wheelchair accessible.
Yes you do. This can be done via the bookings section of the website.
Please aim to arrive 15 minutes before your timeslot and wait for collection in the bar downstairs. You are more than welcome to arrive earlier than this though and enjoy food, drinks and if the weather is nice, the awesome garden at the rear of the Hobgoblin (It won an award yunno!)
Hobgoblin: Yes. There is a car park less than 2 minutes walk from the venue.
